School Code
As a Catholic Community, it is our purpose to shape Catholic Education within our schools in keeping with Gospel values. Schools within the Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario, strive for academic excellence and the development of a strong, caring community. Our vision is for people to think clearly, act wisely, feel deeply and live responsibly. In order to achieve this goal, it is essential that all individuals be safe and feel safe within their school community.
To be successful at St. Mary Catholic School, your son/daughter must learn to:
- Play safely
- Be respectful and courteous to others
- Be respectful of the school, including our Catholic Faith traditions
- Be honest
- Be co-operative and considerate
- Follow rules
- Follow staff directions
- Use appropriate language for school
- Be accountable for his/her actions
The Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario follows a progressive model of discipline as outlined in the Ministry’s Bill 13 Safe and Accepting Schools (see next page). This model is framed in a manner that reflects our common beliefs. Discipline is viewed as a whole-school child-centered continuum of progressive discipline and restorative practice.
